Arcadia Support Portal :: What do you mean by photoregualtion?

What do you mean by photoregualtion?

A. reptiles are one of the most highly advanced of all animal groups! They are able to obtain energy from heat and obtain essential vitamins from simply exposing themselves to short light wavelengths of light from this sun! They are able to see 100 million colours, this opens up a totally different planet to them. A reptile with activated tetrachromatic vision is able to see Ultra violet light and graduations and columns of this light. In simple terms they can see how strong a light pattern is and then move their bodies into this light as and when they require.

Reptiles are the true lighting experts! They are more than able to move about and alter the exposure that they require at that moment. It is commonly seen in captivity that lizards will lay upside down or hang from a lamp, this is a sure sign that the animal is exposing the most transmissive part of the body to what is evidently an underpowered lamp. By exposing the more transmissive areas the reptile is making the most of the system that has been provided for it. Photoregualtion is simply this, providing the very best and safest solar recreation system that you can and decorating the enclosure in a way that allows the animal to choose when and where it wants to be exposed. This is particularly easy when using the award winning Arcadia high output T5 system.
